This Western Sandpiper was banded on March, 6th, 2012 in Paracas National Reserve, in Peru. It was photographed on May 3rd, 2013 along the Washington Coast. That's ~4000 miles it has flow this year. It still has ~3000 miles to go to get to its its breeding grounds in the Artic.
Banded Western Sandpipers have been recaptured that are 13 years old. Imagine how many miles have they flow in their life!
